Before you ask.

Are my words or audio stored anywhere?

No. Processing runs through a secure cloud: audio is processed then dropped, text is never kept. Zero retention. Only anonymous analytics (no content) are stored. The Chorus (enterprise) plan goes 100% local, no cloud at all.

Which Macs are supported? And Windows?

Modern macOS (Apple Silicon M1/M2/M3/M4 and Intel). Windows is in development — join the waitlist to be notified at launch.

What shortcut starts dictation?

Default is Alt+D (Option+D): anywhere on your Mac, you speak, text pastes at the cursor. Fully customizable, and you can assign a different shortcut per profile (raw, rewritten, translated…).

How is this different from macOS native dictation?

Dikton adds AI rewriting with Claude (translate, shift tone, format), per-app contextual profiles, a personal dictionary for your jargon, voice snippets, and soon multi-speaker meeting transcription. Native dictation only does raw transcription.

How does Dikton learn my vocabulary?

Add your terms (lib names, domain jargon, acronyms, clients) to the personal dictionary. Dikton then picks them up reliably, even rare names. Voice snippets work from the first use.

Can I switch EN/FR mid-sentence?

Yes. 60+ languages supported, mid-sentence switching with no break. Useful for international teams or investor briefs that mix English and French.

Is the free tier (10 min/month) actually usable?

All core features are included (profiles, snippets, dictionary, 60+ languages), just capped at 10 minutes of dictation per month. No card required. For daily heavy use (dev, consultant, founder), you'll quickly want unlimited Orator.

Does the 14-day trial require a credit card?

No. You test 60 minutes of Orator dictation over 14 days, no card. If you like it you take Orator (€8/month, or €6/month annually). Otherwise you drop back to Soloist automatically — no surprise charge.

How does Dikton compare to Wispr Flow?

Dikton adds meeting transcription in LLM-ready format (paste straight into Claude/ChatGPT) and a truly usable free tier, at a lower price (€8/mo vs ~€14/mo).
